OUR WEEKLY MEETING’S PROGRAM
The program today was presented by District Governor Tom Uram. Tom started in Rotary in 1982 when he was right out of college. He encouraged us to become “whole Rotarians” by supporting the Rotary Foundation and to introduce members of the business community to Rotary by inviting them to attend a weekly meeting. He hopes that all of us can become a “Triple Crown Rotarian” by doing three things: Introduce someone to Rotary, Make a contribution to Rotary International and Attend a District or International event, conference or program.
He sought support for our Club to participate in the Twin Clubs project, where a Club partners with a Club from a different country to complete a common project for the good of an international service project.
He asked that we help our fellow local clubs that may need our help by using our time and energies to contribute to projects that they may be involved in or are considering becoming involved in.
He stated RI President Glenn Estess’ goals this year: improving literacy, reducing hunger and providing clean water systems for those in need around the world.
We were reminded of the upcoming Chicago Centennial Conference being held June 18-22, 2005. Information and flyers are on the RI website. You can access it through links that are provided on our website.
Tom said that while he realizes that “time is demanding to all members of Rotary, there is something magical about Rotary” and we should “Live a Life of Significance and Legacy” and also share it with others by bringing them to Rotary.

OUR WEEKLY MEETING’S PROGRAM
The program today was presented by Helen Auman. She is a librarian for the Connellsville School District. She discussed the trials and tribulations associated with her recent accident injuries. Seems that Helen was to speak to the Club last year about her recovering from some major injuries, only to have another accident the day that she was scheduled to appear. She said that we really don’t know how lucky we are to be healthy until we experience the trauma and recovery period after an accident. She spoke about the challenges of recovery, the use of wheel chairs and walkers and mobility and accessibility problems associated with them. She told us of the pains, and high costs of titanium rods and braces for broken limbs. She went on to relate to us the qualities that she obtained throughout her ordeals, such as, patience, a great partnership with her significant other, family and healthcare workers. She stressed that humor is a must to be able to get through such a difficult time. She mentioned that sometimes it seemed like her husband had to do thing for her like he would have to do for small children.
Helen seemed to have survived her ordeals with a lot of help from others and from her own determined attitude.
PLEASE BE SAFE OUT THERE.

OUR WEEKLY MEETING’S PROGRAM
The fellowship, food and festivities were outstanding for President’s Day, honoring Bob Wilson for his past year of service to the Club. The location and the weather were both beautiful.
The talented Mr. James Boggs entertained us with his saxophone.
Paul Harris Fellows were presented to James Boggs and Ed Guest.
Peg Wilson received recognition for her gift to the Rotary Foundation. She received the Benefactor Award.
Jim Harrold received a Rotary International award. The Four Avenues of Service Award is for outstanding Rotarians who have contributed immensely to all areas of Rotary.
President Bob was jabbed by Ed Nemanic for all the paperwork that Bob said that he had to handle this year. Jeff Malloy ribbed Bob about his recent stint in “jail” (to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy cause) and his progressing change of wardrobe through his year. (Seems Bob is getting more colorful in his selection of ties!). Tony “Big Al” Martino and Carl Rossman got into the act to remind us of two of Bob’s slips of the tongue.
Bob, not to be outdone, presented some devil horns and tails to those who were a little devilish throughout the year.
What a wonderful thing it is to be able to laugh and joke with each other while in the Service of others.
Bob’s list of accomplishments is innumerable. He responded, “It has been a good year, not my year, but all your year. We can do even more.”
