Our meeting today was a Birthday Table Celebration hosted by Ed Meadows. Mr. Meadows started out by commenting that this month’s number of birthdays (8) as compared to last month’s (21) resulted in “quality” as opposed to “quantity”. Ed probably now has 21 less friends. Not to stop there he helped each of the 8 celebrate by complimenting some and jabbing others. I think that he might have kept 4 friends and lost 4 in this batch. Really not that bad in that department. FEBRUARY’S BIRTHDAYS WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY

MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL SERVING ON THE DISTRICT LEVEL UPCOMING PROGRAMS Our speaker today was Colleen Peterson, owner of Port of Call Travel in Greensburg. Colleen advised us that Port of Call has been serving the needs of travelers since 1988. Travel in the past two years has been very affordable due to special deals that have resulted from a hesitancy of some to travel since September 11th. She said that the times are a changing due to a good economy and more people now willing to travel. Three popular charters are to Aruba, Punta Cana and Cancun. Aruba looks forward to providing a hospitable atmosphere for US citizens. Punta Cana is for beach lovers who like expansive white sand beaches. Special separate resorts in Cancun can offer a great vacation that is away for the college vacation area and their activities. Colleen took our minds to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, which is beautiful, expansive and somewhat expensive. Hawaii is always a favorite for its beauty and hospitality. Las Vegas, aka Sin City, is also a very popular get away spot. Europe has had very little travel traffic in the past two years, this too is also changing. Italy is always a favorite. She recommends you book now since rates will probably be increasing next year. Finally, while the internet is a great source of information on possible destinations and pricing, she encouraged that you seek the help of a travel agency that can meet with you face to face to discuss options and price.
