Their works are currently on display at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. The exhibition, "Points of View – A Shared Vision", is a collaboration of the two Pittsburgh artists. In this series of painted photographs, each contributes their talents to one another's work. Mark's photographic portraits are taken and then given to Robert who then adds his personal painting talents to the photographs. Prior to the finished product, the two men continue a constant dialogue. The two mediums are used to create an account of Pittsburgh's history, landscape and people. We were treated to personal tour of these artist's works. THIS MONTH’S BIRTHDAYS:

SNOW REMOVAL – Seems that Mark Barnhart has been sending emails to President Ed, rubbing in the fact that he was enjoying the climate in Florida…heat and sun, as opposed to our Greensburg snow and cold. Ed apparently snapped! I have been told that he phoned Mayor Karl Eisaman and asked him to truck the extra snow taken from the streets of our town and place it in Mark's parking lot for storage/disposal. Looks like Mark messed with the wrong guy. HOST FAMILIES ARE NEEDED FOR OUR NEW INBOUND EXCHANGE STUDENT. It is believed that we will receive a student from either Bosnia or Poland. UPCOMING PROGRAMS Our speaker today was Kurt Shaw, Art Critic for the Tribune Review. Kurt started in the newspaper business in the 1980's as a cartoonist and illustrator. He was in graphic designs and in the 90's produced fine arts and moved to California. Originally he produced large scale art work on wall structures, then he changed direction. (You had to be there to hear what caused him to then start to produce artwork such as "flaming bears"). Kurt returned to the Greensburg community and will celebrate his two year anniversary at the Trib very soon. He advised us that the Pittsburgh area is very high on the list as a popular destination for art in America. The art culture is defined locally. He first seeks to connect with the artist and then the audience when at a show. Kurt says that he makes no apologies for what he says in his articles. He said that contemporary art is where he is most knowledgeable. He is also a photography critic. He tries to connect directly with the artist through his review and challenges the artist and the community. You may contact him at teddybearflambe@attbi.com THIS MONTH’S BIRTHDAYS: THURSDAY FRIDAY

NEXT WEEK'S PROGRAM – Kurt Shaw, Art Critic for the Tribune Review. UPCOMING PROGRAMS Our speakers today were Susan Nemet, Curator of Education at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art and Pat Bratcher, a docent, who both spoke on the Pennsylvania History Project. The program supplements the Pennsylvania History curriculum being taught in the 4th grade history classes of the local elementary schools. The students are being brought to the museum by their teachers. There is a volunteer group, formed in 2001, which consists of 27 women and 1 man who do outreach. Originally one school participated. Last year four schools…and the hope is eight schools will participate this year. Pat explained that the goal is to "marry history and the museum". She commented that a painting is worth a thousand words. Through her slide show presentation she showed how students are able to view art at the museum and learn about our local and state history, our industrial revolution and its importance to our nation, our economic growth, population growth, pollution issues and natural beauty of our community.
